Venous Lower Limb Ultrasound
A Venous Lower Limb Ultrasound is a scan that looks at the veins in one or both of your legs. This test helps doctors check for varicose veins and understand how well blood is flowing through your leg veins. A Venous Lower Limb Ultrasound is safe, painless, and does not use radiation.
During the scan, the sonographer may gently squeeze your calf muscles. This helps show how your veins move blood back toward your heart. The Venous Lower Limb Ultrasound gives your doctor important information to decide on the best treatment options if you have symptoms like swelling, pain, or visible varicose veins.
You may also hear this test called a leg vein ultrasound, venous Doppler scan, or vascular leg ultrasound, but they all refer to the same procedure.
