Renal Arteries Ultrasound

A Renal Artery Ultrasound is a scan that uses sound waves to look at your kidneys and the arteries that supply blood to them. This test helps doctors see how well blood is flowing to your kidneys and check for any narrowing or blockages. A Renal Artery Ultrasound is safe, painless, and does not use radiation.

During the scan, a sonographer moves a small handheld device over your abdomen to create pictures of your kidneys and the renal arteries. These images help your doctor understand what might be causing high blood pressure or kidney problems.

You may also hear this test called a kidney artery ultrasound or renal vascular ultrasound, but they all refer to the same type of scan.
