Dr Sinjini Biswas

Dr Sinjini Biswas is a consultant interventional and structural cardiologist specialising in percutaneous coronary intervention and transcatheter aortic valve implantation. She has public hospital appointments at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and Bendigo Health. She obtained her medical degree from The University of Melbourne with an International Undergraduate Scholarship, and then completed her cardiology advanced training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. She then received scholarships from the National Heart Foundation and the Australian Government Research Training Program to complete a PhD at The Alfred Hospital and Monash University, and has published extensively in the area of cardiac registries and interventional cardiology. Subsequently, Sinjini completed two international fellowships in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and complex high-risk Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and Bristol Heart Institute respectively, in the United Kingdom, winning the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society Best Trainee Case Award during this time. Sinjini was then appointed as consultant interventional cardiologist at the Bristol Heart Institute where she worked for 2 years before returning home to Melbourne in late 2023.

Sinjini specialises in performing coronary angiography and PCI via the radial artery in the wrist, assessment of epicardial and microvascular coronary physiology, performing complex PCI using intracoronary imaging (IVUS/OCT) and the treatment of aortic stenosis with TAVI. Sinjini also has an interest in women’s heart health and diagnosing and managing coronary microvascular dysfunction and vasospasm, and currently also holds a prestigious National Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. She has recently been recognised as an emerging leader in the field of cardiology by the British Cardiovascular Society and American Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention (SCAI), and has been invited faculty at several major international cardiac conferences. She is passionate about providing holistic and personalised care to her patients.
